Preaching Tip"We should give the most careful thought to the needs of every group, large or small; not only to the subject matter of our discourse but the mode of its presentation. The smaller the group the more carefully should we prepare because we are more nearly in touch with individual needs. This work should never be haphazard, ‘fitted in'. If we find ourselves saying, for instance, ‘It's only a talk to the Children of Mary' or again, ‘I've just got to say a few words to the children,' we may be perfectly sure we have not the right attitude towards our job; the insinuation being, of course, that we take much more care over our sermons because they are more important for purely personal reasons."
